The LOC full form in law is Look Out Circulars. It is a crucial instrument which is issued by the government of India as a mandate for their immigration authorities, it allows them to regulate and restrict the physical movement of any individual. The Department of Immigration is assigned to prevent any individual against whom a notice is provided from entering or leaving the country.
Importance of LOC in Law:
LOC (Look Out Circulars) are often used by Law enforcement agencies as an oppressive measure to prevent any individual who is under suspicion or is wanted by an investigating agency or by the police from entering or leaving the country via designated sea, land, and air ports. Look Out Circulars (LOC) are mostly issued by government agencies, intelligence agencies, or police that are authorized by the MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs). The regulation and issuance of LOCs are not supported explicitly by the legislation. Rather, the authority that can issue LOCs stems through the executive brand with the help of an Official Memorandum which was issued by MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs) in the year 2021. The same department provides the guidelines for LOCs against foreigners or Indian Citizens.
